As we head into the final days of 2016, we want to take a moment to look back as the New Year approaches. For many of us, 2016 was a long, arduous year. Our country experienced one of the most polarizing elections in decades, we bade farewell to a number of famous musicians and actors, and our beloved home state of Tennessee was ravaged by wildfires and drought.
But we want to end the year on a positive note. We have loved receiving you, our customers’, photos, videos, and reviews of our products. So for this week’s blog, we’re rounding up our favorite #ShowUsYourChota moments from 2016. Our favorite moments from the year include…
This awesome unboxing video on YouTube of our newest Chota boots!
YouTube user Fishyaker recently published an “unboxing” video to give his first impressions on our newly released Hybrid High-Top Rubber-Soled Wading Boots as he removes them from their box for the first time. If his reaction is any indication, then we anticipate plenty more customers using these boots for kayak fishing, hiking, and other outdoor exploits.
These Chota boots that kept this woman’s feet dry and toasty while exercising her rights to peacefully protest
No doubt you have seen Facebook posts or news stories about the highly controversial Dakota Access Pipeline. Protests occurred for months until the construction was recently halted for further environmental review. Valerie Gordon shared this photo on our Facebook page showing her well-worn Chotas that kept her feet warm and dry in the bitter cold on Thanksgiving, and from a canoe no less!
Year-round canoe and kayak fishing
Our most recent new boots pull double duty for wading and canoe/kayak fishing, and the trend has caught on quickly with our customers. From multi-day canoe floats to afternoons of kayak fishing, we have loved receiving photos of our boots from your man-powered water crafts.
Our longtime customer and friend Zachary Pittman shared this photo of a fall float with last year’s Hybrid Felt Soled Wading Shoes. We designed these shoes with wet wading and paddling in mind, and they’re clearly serving their purpose!
Around the same time, Jerry Harmon showed how he uses his Mukluks to brave the chilly autumn lake waters for drift fishing from his kayak. Our Mukluks feel like toasty house slippers and keep your feet dry, so they work beautifully in kayak cockpits.
Float trips and fly fishing are even better with man’s best friend
How can fly fishing get any better? By including dogs, of course! We’ve seen plenty of photos of customers bringing their dogs to the streams and riding along in canoes and kayaks. Now if only Chota boots came in dog sizes…
We love this photo by Benjamin Zlachevsky showing his two dogs accompanying him on the stream while he fly fishes with his Hippies.
And this photo by Cobi Sharpe and Waboose Adventures is a stunning depiction of how fun a canoe float can be with a dog. Chota Mukluks work great for keeping your feet warm and dry while wet wading to carry your canoe or kayak between water sources, such as over a beaver dam in this photo.
This guy breaking in his new Chota boots with good company
And finally, we love a good sense of humor in our customers’ photos, and it certainly shows in this image. Jerry Vandiver sent us this photo from Waynesboro, North Carolina while breaking in his new Rock Creek Wading Boots in preparation for a 10-day trip to Wabakimi Provincial Park.
We want to give a huge thank you to our loyal customers and fans for supporting our products and sharing how they have enriched your outdoor recreation. Join us on December 30th for our last blog of 2016, where we’ll look back on some of our most memorable occasions of the past year. For now, have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, and keep on fishing!
